The WMV Focus Site was established in the spring of 2023, and two similar paddocks underwent various management practices.
Closing out the CY24 Season
The WMV Focus Site reference group invited new members to meet to analyse last season's (CY24) production and economic performance.
The reference group accompanying the WMV Focus site at Shaun Thomas’s farm met in August 2024. They analysed the performance of the CY24 harvest of V071 and discussed the focus site targets and the combination of technologies for the next season. The meeting was engaging, with local producers and consultants exchanging ideas and viewpoints.
Their goal is consistently achieving over 13t/ha yields while maximising economic income. Topics discussed included soil improvement, preparation in the new paddocks, optimal planting dates for early January PI, sowing density, nutrient management, water usage, weed control, and irrigation automation. We appreciate the attendance of those who participated and look forward to the continued progress of the WMV focus site.
